I’ve returned to America for a month-long visit and will be updating from March. Bare with me as there is a ton of new stuff to add. Feel free to poke around the old blogs and read the new ones. There are A LOT!

In 2008 I participated in a cultural exchange program with a university in East Asia. I enjoyed my time and really came to love the culture and the people, so much so that I decided to come back for a whole year! Now that I have completed my first year, I decided to stay for yet another year – so the adventures continue.

You are invited to join me in the adventures that come with readjusting to a completely different culture and all the drama that this life holds.

Behind My Coffee Cup I Just Smile

Today we had a real treat. A lady from Texas moved here this summer and has opened a coffee shop just around the corner from school. We can actually walk there! She invited us (the foreign teachers) to come by today for a free coffee and snack. It was really nice to get away from campus and indulge a little bit with a latte and tiramisu. I also tried her chocolate chip cookies, which I have really missed since coming here. They were good, but still not quite the same as the break and bakes that I seemingly lived on during my senior year at UNC. (Mary and Tiff, I really miss sitting in the kitchen floor, eating warm cookies, and talking!)

I think that I have found another good place to hide away when I get tired of being “the foreigner”. I still can’t get used to being stared at. You would think that it would not be such as big deal on campus because there are 7 of us, but I get stared at just as much there as I do in the city. Maybe it’s my “movie star” status…I signed my first autograph the other weekend at E.C. CrAzY!
