I’ve returned to America for a month-long visit and will be updating from March. Bare with me as there is a ton of new stuff to add. Feel free to poke around the old blogs and read the new ones. There are A LOT!

In 2008 I participated in a cultural exchange program with a university in East Asia. I enjoyed my time and really came to love the culture and the people, so much so that I decided to come back for a whole year! Now that I have completed my first year, I decided to stay for yet another year – so the adventures continue.

You are invited to join me in the adventures that come with readjusting to a completely different culture and all the drama that this life holds.

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

Since my initial batch of groceries was running low, I made my first solo trip to Wal-mart today. I was a little apprehensive since I can’t communicate where I want to go, but I knew that the little vans in front of school went to and from the Wal-mart. I got a little worried part way through the trip and asked one of the students if it was going there, he confirmed that it was.

Since I didn’t have any major time constraints, I decided to browse through the aisles thoroughly and scope out what they had. While there is no “International Aisle” per se, there is a section that seems to have more international type products than the other aisles. I found SPAM, though not by name; Barilla pasta & sauce kits, which I was really excited to find; popcorn; and ketchup – Heinz. I also thought it was interesting that they sell Kikkoman products in this “international” area.

I felt quite proud of myself for this little venture all on my own.
